Covered In Dust

Ok, so I've never been one to remember dates that mark a significant even in my life.  For example, I don't know the dates of when I moved to Florida or moved back to Tennessee.  I don't know the date of my first date with Bryan.  I don't even know the date of the day Bryan proposed (it was his birthday weekend and I think it might have actually happened on his birthday, my I can't be sure).  So, it should come to no surprise that two significant dates have recently passed and I was unaware of the fact until well, after the fact.

First significant date to pass was July 27th, which is the date of my first blog post.  Woo hoo!  One year down and let's see if I can keep it up for another year.

The second significant date to pass was July 31st, which marked the second anniversary of us being home owners!  (and I just realized that I have no idea the date of when we actually moved into the house, but I do know it was about a month later).

So, it only seems fitting that when these dates passed, we were celebrating with power tools in our hand instead of toasting it with champainge!

Yep, seems about right.  Also, it should be no surprise that this was a project started two years ago and we're just now getting around to finishing it and the reason we are now working on it is because I am so tired of the office. I was hating everything about it so now it's getting ready to under go a makeover (so brace yourselves for a lot of posts about our office, I want to give you fair warning!).  And my logic was if I'm going to paint the office, I want to clear the room because the base boards need painting and if we're going to clear the room, we might as well put off the inevitable and finish our floors.  Bryan agreed (even agreeing to do them on his birthday weekend but I gave him a break and we started these last weekend instead).

So guys, tell me.  How do you celebrate momentous occasions in your life?  And what do you consider momentous?  Starting a new job?  Buying a house?  Moving to a new state?  I need all of your advice so I can celebrate it right next year!

  1. Other then birthday's and our anniversary, we usually don't celebrate any momentous occasions. I say a few words to myself on the anniversary of my father's death, but that's about it.

  4. I celebrate momentous occasions by waiting a week (or more), remembering there was something I was supposed to celebrate, and saying "crap! I forgot that was last week/month/year!"

Can't wait to see how the office turns out! Any chance of some funky floor design happening in there? You know you want to do it! ;)

  6. Don't fret! I'm terrible at remembering dates as well- which is why most of my momentous occasions fall on other important dates. For example, Chris and I officially started dating on Christmas, Chris proposed on his birthday, ten months later we secretly got married on my birthday and held a wedding reception with friends and family on Chris' birthday. Again, I'm terrible at remembering important dates!

  7. Cool, I love to see new floors! Don't you love that snowball effect?

We don't celebrate our 'events', but I'm sure we for our wedding anniversary. We're not real sentimental I guess.
