Did you watch the show? What did you think? You may recall that I did not choose the green paint choice because it was hard to tell if it was brown or green. We shot that scene outside in direct sunlight on the south side of our house. The color I saw was more of a muddy, murky pond green color. You know, dirty. But now, I love the green, I really do. It looks so nice with the carpet. And so far, I'm liking the carpet. I thought we'd rip it out as soon as they left. It still remains to be seen how long it'll stay on the stairs though.
The big question you all are probably asking is "How do you like having your bedroom in the attic?". And the answer is: as of today, we have not moved our bedroom up to the attic yet. :) We need to install an HVAC unit and we're hoping to do that before the tax credit expires at the end of the year. Then we're moving on up!
Another sweet perk we got out of this deal was we got to keep a lot of the furnishings in the room (we thought it was for staging purposes and all that would be staying was what the voters selected). Included was the lamps, nightstands, dresser, curtains and curtain rod and a really sweet mattress. They hooked us up with The Garden Sleep System by Natural Form. We were beyond giddy when they told us and have been sleeping like babies ever since.
This now concludes my posts on our Run My Renovation experience. But it's far from last you will hear about the attic. Once the HVAC is installed, we have plans to do a little tweaking to the bedroom side plus a bathroom and closet to plan for and build (which will go behind that door).
Anyone else have a converted master bedroom en suite? I'd love to see links to your bathroom, we need some inspiration!

that's flippin' awesome! it looks great, and i love that you have a new master bedroom. i wish we had an attic space, lol. congrats on your new space!!
ReplyDeleteHoly awesome! I love it! My favorite part is the ceiling. So bright and fresh. You are lucky to have had those windows, too. Awesome awesome.
ReplyDeletePS- I love how you snuck Bindi in the shot :-)
Amanda, it's actually hard to take a picture without her in the shot--she's gotta be wherever we are. And it's even worse when we pull out the camera (possibly because we used to feed her treats so we could take her picture). :)
ReplyDeleteHey, I caught the show last night, so fun!! You guys are so cute in real life too!
ReplyDeleteYour room looks amazing, I was sad you didn't get the light you wanted, I liked that one too, but the one you have I ended up liking.
So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love attic bedrooms. I had one in the house I lived in before I married my hubbins, and we have an attic bedroom as well.
For me, attic bedrooms are so private and separate from the rest of the house that it is my own little refuge. Love it.
Your whole space is so lovely.
I could do without the carpet on the stairs, but the rest of it looks amazing!! I can't even imagine the value that was added to your home...
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a usable attic space. Yours gets great light!
ReplyDeleteLove your bed, too.

Oh my goodness! Congratulations. It looks fantastic. Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteYour makeover looks fantastic. Even though they weren't all your picks the room looks great and you can make changes as you go. Well done! xx
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! It turned out amazing. The beadboard ceilings are gorgeous and make it feel so luxuriously cottage like! Way to go, girl!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! I love the ceilings and extra light. I don't mind the carpet on the stairs. It gives a bit more traction, though clumsy me would definitely need a rail.
ReplyDeleteDarn, I did not see the show. It looks like everything turned out lovely. I really like everything about it. Congrats!

It looks so amazing!! I was wondering about the color of the walls too when watching the episode, but when the final reveal showed everything put together I was sold!!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I would so like to turn my attic into a bedroom. How fantastic that you had this done for tv. I'm sure you can't wait to start using it.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is one of the most dramatic before-and-afters I have ever seen! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow! I want an attic room myself! Unfortunately, we don't have an attic at home, but I know someone who can install an attic if I want to. I didn't know that's possible, but it is! I love that the window is behind the bed. It looks so classy from the photos. Have fun with your new bedroom! :)
ReplyDeleteThis transformation is very inspiring. Some people neglect their attics, but what they didn't know is they have potential. The white ceiling and the green wall is a perfect combination to create a calm feeling. I also love your choice of fabric for the bed. It must be very relaxing to lie on that bed in this kind of room setting. It's like you're in some exclusive spa. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more stuff here. :)
